Centre of choice.

Byline: ARTHUR MACDONALD

MANAMA: Bahrain could become the exhibition and conference centre of choice for Saudi Arabia's eastern industrial areas. That was the claim from a business visitor to Gulf Industry Fair 2008 yesterday. The Saudi industrialist said that his own country could never put on an exhibition with such a range of regional and international participants.

"Saudi industry, certainly around Damman and Al Khobar should be looking to Bahrain in future to organise the kind of industry events we need to expand our businesses.

"This has been an extremely good conference for me. I had thought about coming as an exhibitor but decided that as it was a first time event just to visit.

Today is the final day of the fair with the morning session running from 10am to 1pm and then from 4pm to 8pm.

"I expect to be back next year. You could never get such a mix of businesses at a conference in Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia (sä`dē ərā`bēə, sou`–, sô–), officially Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, kingdom (2005 est. pop. ," he said.

"That is why we should be looking to Bahrain to support our industries by organising more of these events for us.

"People have no problems getting to Bahrain and it's only a short drive across the causeway for us."

"Having come to this exhibition I am convinced we should have skipped Saudi and come here. It's a good place to make contact with Saudi industries."
