The Shania Twain Centre Opened on June 30 2001, the Shania Twain Centre is a tourist attraction located in Timmins, Ontario. Since its opening, the Centre has received memorabilia, awards and many other personal items from Shania Twain, the most notable person to have come from Timmins.  and the Timmins Timmins, town (1991 pop. 47,461), central Ont., Canada, on the Mattagami River. Timmins is the commercial center of the rich Porcupine gold-mining district, where gold was first discovered in 1909. Silver, copper, lead, and zinc are also mined.  Underground Gold Mine Tour need extra funding from the city after experiencing a $241,360 net loss in 2001. The board of directors are asking for $117,000, up from $48,000 last year. They forecast a better year in 2002, projecting ticket sales will improve from 12,275 sold last year to 16,000 and expect to garner a surplus of $18,350.
