Centre can stay open in winter.

Byline: CARL BUTLER

A COMMUNITY centre has received a cash boost which will help it stay open this winter.

Seabank Road community centre, Prestatyn received pounds 4,000 to renew their old boiler boiler, device for generating steam. It consists of two principal parts: the furnace, which provides heat, usually by burning a fuel, and the boiler proper, a device in which the heat changes water into steam. .

A new more energy efficient one has just been installed after Councillors Mike Eckersley and Alan Pennington won the grant from the North Hoyle Wales' first offshore wind farm, and the UK's first major offshore renewable power project, the North Hoyle Offshore Wind Farm in Liverpool Bay, commenced operation in 2003.  Community Fund, set up by the off-shore wind farms.

The centre in Meliden incurred huge costs through winter months heating two activity rooms.

The new boiler is 50% cheaper to run, ensuring the two rooms can be heated separately making the centre more environmentally friendly Environmentally friendly, also referred to as nature friendly, is a term used to refer to goods and services considered to inflict minimal harm on the environment.[1] .

"It's great news the centre will be able to save money and reduce their CO2 output," said Matt Wright, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Vale of Clwyd.
