Centre awards security, ground handling diplomas.

The Centre of Aviation and Security Studies, part of the Emirates Group, has awarded diplomas to professionals in the aviation security and ground handling industries, in association with Edith Cowan Edith Dircksey Cowan (née Brown), OBE (August 2 1861–June 9 1932) was an Australian politician, social campaigner and the first woman elected as a representative in an Australian parliament.  University of Western Australia Western Australia, state (1991 pop. 1,409,965), 975,920 sq mi (2,527,633 sq km), Australia, comprising the entire western part of the continent. The university diploma in aviation security were awarded to 70 graduates, the majority of whom are Emirates group staff members, with others from various government and private enterprises, such as Dubai Civil Aviation, First Security Group, Atlas Air Atlas Air is an American cargo airline based in Purchase, New York, United States. It operates scheduled freight flights on an ACMI contract basis for some of the world's leading airlines, flying to 101 cities in 46 countries.  and Etihad Airways Etihad Airways (Arabic: الإتحاد, ʼal-ʻitiħād) is the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates. Etihad is based in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE.  of Abu Dhabi.

The diploma in ground handling was awarded to 14 Emirates group staff members.

The diploma courses in aviation security management and in ground handling involve home study and monthly tutorials held at the Emirates Aviation College, with examinations assessed and graded by Edith Cowan University. -- TradeArabia News Service
