Central military parade.The highlight of the national independence anniversary has been the military parade Also appearing on the podium have been high-ranking guests both local, Arab and foreign as well as army and police top brass, magistrates and leading news magnates. Amid customary army band fanfares, the annual parade opened with 3 antiquated British Hawker Hunter The Hawker Hunter was a British jet fighter aircraft of the 1950s and 1960s. The Hunter served for many years with the Royal Air Force and was widely exported, serving with 19 air forces. A total of 1,972 Hunters were produced by Hawker Siddeley and under licence. jet fighters from the air force swooping down only to be followed by a formation of helicopters flying overhead with Lebanese national colors. Infantry and military academy rookies filed past the podium to be followed by navy representative units. Air force pilots and ground technicians next made their appearance followed by anti riots' personnel with full gear as part of 2 or more branches of the country's police forces. Next came paratroops and rapid deployment forces who effected simulated landings from helicopters hovering off-shore and on land. Leaders and dignitaries then left the podium amid army band martial music-playing.
