Central and South West Corporation forms EnerShop to help large energy users save money, increase productivity.

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 23, 1995--A new subsidiary has been formed by Central and South West Corporation (NYSE: CSR) to help major energy users reduce their costs.

EnerShop, Inc.(SM), initially will serve commercial, industrial, institutional and governmental customers in the Southwest to provide energy management services designed to control costs, enhance productivity and improve convenience, safety and comfort. Formation of EnerShop was approved recently by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

"We will be able to offer a variety of energy-saving solutions after an evaluation of the customer's systems," said Mike Montgomery, general manager of EnerShop. "Our full-service capability includes design, construction and retrofit of energy systems as well as financing," he said.

EnerShop already has submitted bids for energy management projects, including county government facilities. Additional project bids are expected in the near future.

Montgomery said potential EnerShop customers include large office buildings, hospitals, schools, universities, lodging facilities, grocery chains and light manufacturing.

"After we perform our assessment and develop our turn-key energy management solutions in concert with an engineering firm, EnerShop will team with a variety of contractors for mechanical, electrical, lighting and controls applications," he said. "In most cases, we will work with local contractors to serve the customer's needs."

EnerShop will manage the entire project, including placement of third- party financing.

EnerShop is offering services and technologies that include:

o high-efficiency lighting (ballasts, reflectors, lamps and controls);

o high-efficiency HVAC systems (rooftop units, chillers and thermal energy storage);

o energy management and control systems;

o improved fans and air-handling equipment;

o variable speed drives and high-efficiency motors;
