The installation is significant in a number of ways and includes two RADVISION viaIP MCU's (160 Ports), with the first 100 port MCU card in Australia, advanced media processing cards, redundant gatekeepers, redundant scheduler and a viaIP IP/ISDN Gateway.

The network will initially provide visual communications services, based on the H.323 IP communications protocol, to select lecture theatres throughout the CQU network. However, what makes this installation particularly significant is that CQU also plans to leverage the RADVISION platform's full support of the SIP communications protocol to roll out desktop multimedia conferring solutions to staff computers/laptops network-wide.
