Central Newspapers to consolidate Muncie morning and afternoon newspapers.INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 1996--Central Newspapers, Inc. announced that its Muncie, Indiana Muncie (IPA: [ˈmʌn.si]) is a city in Delaware County in east central Indiana, best known as the home of Ball State University and the birthplace of the Ball Corporation. subsidiary will consolidate its morning and afternoon newspapers, The Muncie Star and The Muncie Evening Press, into a single morning newspaper, The Star Press, beginning May 20, 1996. Weil, III, president and chief executive officer of Central Newspapers, said, "The Muncie management team made an extensive evaluation of the overall market and believes that Muncie and the surrounding sur·round tr.v. sur·round·ed, sur·round·ing, sur·rounds 1.
