Central Fidelity National Bank signs agreement with Fiserv Imaging Group and AT&T GIS to expand existing image statement operation with archive and electronic distribution capabilities; implementation to port existing architecture from mainframe to AT&T UNIX client-server.

MILWAUKEE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 1995--The Fiserv Imaging Group, based in Maitland, Fla., and AT&T GIS today announced an agreement with Central Fidelity National Bank of Richmond, Va., to upgrade its current image statement process with additional imaging products based on the Fiserv Image and Document Management Architecture. The upgrade will make the applications available on an AT&T UNIX UNIX

Operating system for digital computers, developed by Ken Thompson of Bell Laboratories in 1969. It was initially designed for a single user (the name was a pun on the earlier operating system Multics).
 client-server platform.

Central Fidelity, one of the pioneers in the industry to offer image statements to its customer base, installed the Fiserv (formerly CBISR Banking) system in 1991 on its mainframe to support remote capture and print of check images. As part of the upgrade, Central Fidelity will implement the Fiserv Imaging Group's Image Archive & Retrieval and Remote Image Distribution applications. This will enhance customer service delivery options and enable the delivery of check images to the bank's customers on electronic media, such as CD-ROM CD-ROM: see compact disc.

. Additionally, the Fiserv applications will archive images from Central Fidelity's image-based remittance system and provide online retrieval and distribution to the bank's corporate customers.

"The Fiserv image statement solution has proven to be a winner for Central Fidelity and our customers," said Bill Rogerson, Executive Vice President at Central Fidelity. "Being able to leverage our initial investment in imaging and add functionality at the same time was very important. The Fiserv / AT&T relationship enabled us to do just that, with a solution that will continue to grow with our business needs."

Central Fidelity is the first customer of the newly formed relationship that was announced last month between the Fiserv Imaging Group and AT&T GIS. The relationship is two-fold: AT&T GIS will resell all of the Fiserv imaging applications, and the Fiserv Archive & Retrieval solution will be integrated with AT&T's SIIPS SIIPS Selection & Implementation of Integrated Packaged Software  POD (Scaleable Image Item Processing System Proof of Deposit) system.

"This expansion of our current image statement installation at Central Fidelity Bank demonstrates our ability to protect client investments and to deliver technologies that will enable them to better meet changing customer requirements," said Chris Dice, President of the Fiserv Imaging Group.

"Central Fidelity's decision validates our belief that client-server is the right architecture for imaging applications," said Andy Orent, AT&T Vice President of Financial Systems Group Marketing in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America.
