THE guitarist guitarist Jeff Beck is to make a welcome return to Broad Street next week when he appears at the NIA on Tuesday.

Since the demise of Ronnie Scott's, live music needs the kind of renaissance that Jeff can spark.

Greatly famed as a former Yardbird, he was inspirational for most of their biggest numbers, and that after Eric Clapton left. He makes his guitar speak unlike any other. Jeff in fact doesn't want it to sound like a guitar. He produces a wide variety of sounds by using only his thumbnail and the stock tremolo bar. Bet ya the Zutons can't do that!
