Central City News: Audio link to concierges; LADYWOOD.TENANTS in four inner-city tower blocks are getting a new security lifeline with the help of pounds 1.6 million from Birmingham City Council. Concierge staff at the blocks in Ladywood will be able to talk to residents through a talk-back audio network and CCTV CCTV abbr. closed-circuit television CCTV closed-circuit television cameras. The scheme involves Wells, Truro, Lincoln and Brecon Towers and is being installed in collaboration with security firm CCSS CCSS Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social (Costa Rican Social Security Institution) CCSS Center for Civil Society Studies CCSS Commodity Command Standard System CCSS Common Channel Signaling System Ltd and Morrison Facilities Services Ltd. Cameras will cover communal areas on every floor, respecting the privacy of the residents, while at the same time increasing their sense of security. It means that if elderly residents falls down the stairs Adv. 1. down the stairs - on a floor below; "the tenants live downstairs" downstairs, on a lower floor, below , the concierge will be able to speak to them to see if they are OK. Coun Kath Hartley (Lab, Ladywood) and senior city council officers met residents to answer their queries on the new system, which will be installed in phases this year. |
