TENANTS in four inner-city tower blocks are getting a new security lifeline with the help of pounds 1.6 million from Birmingham City Council.

The scheme involves Wells, Truro, Lincoln and Brecon Towers and is being installed in collaboration with security firm CCSS CCSS Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social (Costa Rican Social Security Institution)

 Ltd and Morrison Facilities Services Ltd.

Cameras will cover communal areas on every floor, respecting the privacy of the residents, while at the same time increasing their sense of security.

Coun Kath Hartley (Lab, Ladywood) and senior city council officers met residents to answer their queries on the new system, which will be installed in phases this year.
