Centillium Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTLM CTLM Imaging Computed tomography laser mammography A diagnostic technique using lasers to produce a 3-D cross-sectional image of the breast without x-rays. See Mammography. ), innovator of broadband communications technology, and Medialincs, a rapidly growing networking systems vendor, today announced a partnership aimed at increasing the deployment of Full Rate Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (communications, protocol) Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line - (ADSL, or Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Loop) A form of Digital Subscriber Line in which the bandwidth available for downstream connection is significantly larger then for upstream.  (ADSL) services in Korea.

Medialincs will design and manufacture Full Rate ADSL equipment based on Centillium's quad-port CopperFlite Central Office (CO) and USB-powered Flite Optimizer Central Premise Equipment (CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) Communications equipment that resides on the customer's premises.

This networking equipment will enable Full Rate ADSL deployments in multi-subscriber environments such as commercial multi-tenant units (MTUs), residential multi-dwelling units (MDUs), office parks, and campus-style settings.

"The receptivity to ADSL in the Korean market has been overwhelmingly strong," said Kimberl,y Funasaki, senior research analyst, IDC. "The MTU/MDU market is a natural fit for this densely populated region, and the combined efforts of Centillium Communications and Medialincs will help service providers to profitably bring full-rate ADSL services to fruition in this environment."

"We evaluated all of the high-performance Full-Rate ADSL solutions available, and we chose Centillium's CopperFlite and Flite Optimizer chipsets because they have the highest levels of integration and density, as well as the lowest power consumption and bill of materials The list of components that make up a system. For example, a bill of materials for a house would include the cement block, lumber, shingles, doors, windows, plumbing, electric, heating and so on.  cost," said C.Y. Park, product manager of ADSL, Medialincs. "CopperFlite allowed us to design Full-Rate ADSL communications equipment that can meet the very restrictive facility requirements typically found in multi-tenant subscriber environments. These include low power consumption, low heat dissipation, and, most importantly, small size. Centillium's Flite Optimizer USB USB

"The highly integrated Centillium chipsets are ideal for Medialincs' clustered subscriber applications, such as residential multi-dwelling units, where there is no room for wasted real estate, power consumption, or cost."
