Centex Awarded Contract for Engineering and Computer Science Building At University of Texas - Dallas.

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 2001

Centex Construction Company has been selected as construction manager for the expansion of the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas History

The new addition will provide the existing Engineering and Computer Science Building with an additional 158,000 square feet dedicated to instructional classrooms, computer research laboratories and administrative space. Large lecture classroom facilities will be of particular importance in the design. Optimized space and viewing for presenter and students is required, while not compromising the quality of video-casting lectures to remote learning students. To achieve this goal, the design incorporates features such as, tiered flooring with high resolution, rear projection for improved viewing, controlled lighting to avoid projection screen wash out, and carefully placed microphones for enhanced audio function.

The development of this building is key to the future growth of the engineering and computer science program at UT Dallas and will be a vital resource to the telecommunications industry in North Dallas North Dallas is an expansive area of numerous communities and neighborhoods in Dallas, Texas, (USA). It spans portions of three counties: Collin, Dallas, and Denton, and has strong social ties to two enclaves of Dallas (University Park and Highland Park) and a near-enclave .
