Center for Diagnostic Imaging Joins Indiana Network for Patient Care.

CDI becomes the first outpatient imaging provider in the network

INDIANAPOLIS -- Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI) of Indianapolis has become the first outpatient imaging provider to participate in the Indiana Network for Patient Care (INPC), one of the nation's leading health information exchanges and a state-wide network focused on supporting optimal clinical care with up-to-date, secure, immediately accessible patient information.

"We are pleased to be the first medical imaging provider to join the INPC. Our organization understands the importance of having accurate patient data, including diagnostic imaging information, in the hands of our region's emergency room and primary care physicians, when and where they need it. Though integrating this information is challenging for any provider, our shared goal is better patient care via an exchange of critical information," said CDI vice president Laura Stark.

"With CDI's participation in the INPC, imaging results will be securely available to a patient's provider when needed for care in more care settings, more efficiently, while at the same time improving the safety of the care they receive," said J. Marc Overhage, M.D., Ph.D. Director of Medical Informatics at Regenstrief Institute, Inc. The Regenstrief Institute is an internationally recognized informatics and healthcare research organization dedicated to the improvement of health through research that enhances the quality and cost-effectiveness of healthcare. Beginning in 1994, with funding from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the National Library of Medicine, the Regenstrief Institute initially developed INPC, as a city-wide clinical informatics network. INPC founding participants include the five major hospital systems serving Indianapolis - Community Health Network, St. Vincent Health, St. Francis Hospital and Health Centers, Clarian Health, and Wishard Health Services. INPC has continued to expand throughout the state of Indiana, serving a growing number of providers, including hospitals, medical laboratories, and outpatient facilities. For more information, visit the INPC Web site at: http://www.inpc.org.
