(AMEX AMEX See: American Stock Exchange : CTN) announced today the introduction of seven new products to its existing product offering. Jack McDonald, Vice President of Sales for CENTENNIAL TECHNOLOGIES, INC., stated, "We are pleased with our newest mix of product additions. CENTENNIAL's continuing research and development of PC card solutions is in line with our strategy of understanding the future product requirements of our customer base." Following is a brief description of each of the product offerings released today: ATA FLASH The ATA FLASH Card can be utilized as a hard drive in platforms or environments where traditional rotating ATA (1) (AT Attachment) The specification for IDE drives. See IDE. (2) See analog telephone adapter. ATA - Advanced Technology Attachment devices are unacceptable. These ATA FLASH Cards are much more rugged, offer better performance, and have lower power requirements. MINI FLASH These new MINI FLASH series of Flash cards is expected to commence shipments in the near future. This new Flash card is much smaller than the traditional PC Cards, measuring only 33mm X 38mm. The smaller cards can easily be placed in a Mini Card Shuttle for use in traditional PC Card slots, for cross platform data exchanges. This new form factor opens the market for Flash technology to the smaller hand held electronics marketplace. ENDURA-FLASH This series of Flash cards is specifically designed to withstand the rigorou demands of harsh and rugged environments. Our new ENDURA-FLASH cards combine standard flash technology and encapsulate the PCB PCB: see polychlorinated biphenyl. PCB in full polychlorinated biphenyl Any of a class of highly stable organic compounds prepared by the reaction of chlorine with biphenyl, a two-ring compound. into a monolithic metal case which guarantees immunity from a wide range of conditions. The design enables complete isolation of the PCB from any external influence such as aggressive air conditions and full immersion into fluids. ECONO-FLASH ECONO-FLASH cards are geared toward embedded systems which do not require an EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable ROM) A rewritable memory chip that holds its content without power. Although EEPROMs spawned flash memory, EEPROMs are byte addressable at the write level, whereas flash chips must erase a block of bytes before rewriting. or ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) Pronounced "a-sick." A chip that is custom designed for a specific application rather than a general-purpose chip such as a microprocessor. . This approach lowers the costs to users that do not need or use the PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association, San Jose, CA, www.pcmcia.org) An international standards body and trade association that was founded in 1989 to establish a standard for connecting peripherals to portable computers. VALUE+SERIES Unlike other cards in CENTENNIAL's Flash offerings, the VALUE+SERIES of Flas cards, with its DC/DC onboard converter, works in both 12 and 5 volt systems. JUPITER JUPITER is the Company's newest GPS receiver utilizing Rockwell's new Zodiac chip set. This new GPS receiver has significant improvements over its predecessor, as it has 12 channels verses 5, and enhanced "time to fix" capabilities. This product is intended for use as a navigation engine in embedded applications. SATNAV satnav Noun Motoring informal satellite navigation LP The SatNav GPS PCMCIA receiver is a low power model LP. This new, low powered card is about half the power draw of its predecessor. This will allow longer navigating times while on battery power. This product is intended for use with commercially available GPS ready mapping applications on notebook computers. CENTENNIAL TECHNOLOGIES, INC. designs, manufactures and sells an extensive line of PCMCIA cards used in industrial applications, as well as provides contract manufacturing services from its facilities in Massachusetts and Thailand.
