Stevens has thirty-five years of banking experience, twenty-three years of which were spent with Centennial Bank in a broad number of senior management capacities. Lorri Morse, senior vice president, will assume many of those duties formerly held by Stevens.

Stevens leaves with a distinguished list of Centennial Bancorp accomplishments. Stevens came to Valley State Bank in April 1977 as vice president and cashier. Hired as the first officer, he oversaw the creation of all systems and procedures for the bank. This experience served him well for the later rapid growth of the organization.

In 1981, he played a significant role in the formation of Centennial Bancorp, which became active with the merger of Centennial Bank and Valley State Bank. With this undertaking, Stevens was named executive vice president, operations and personnel, assuming additional corporate management responsibilities for human resources The fancy word for "people." The human resources department within an organization, years ago known as the "personnel department," manages the administrative aspects of the employees. .

He is credited with pioneering Centennial Bank's highly personalized style of customer service. He has been a strong innovator in personal touch banking at a time when many bank service levels are rapidly being replaced by more automated, impersonal venues.
