Security for Tracking Information Technology (IT) Assets

Centennial Software today announced the availability of the Web version of their leading network-based inventory tracking software, Centennial Discovery(TM). The new Web Edition provides a Web browser interface detailing hardware and software audit information for networked PCs. Included with the product are asset analysis tools that provide valuable usage analysis and upgrade cost calculations -- helping key decision makers within an organization control costs and better utilize their PC assets.

Centennial Discovery Web Edition includes all of the features of Centennial Discovery -- detailed PC audit history, auditing over the Internet, device discovery and physical location detection of network assets. In addition, the Web Edition provides many new features. Read-only Web browser access to the Centennial Discovery asset repository enables selected users within the organization to run reports and analyze asset usage. New asset analysis tools provide reports on hardware and software usage across the organization. An upgrade costing wizard assists in calculating the cost of upgrading software based on current hardware configurations. Security to the repository data can be setup by user or groups.

"While tracking our IT assets and usage of these assets is a high priority for our organization, it can be difficult to keep this information current and easily accessible," said Helena Stevens, Managing Director of HSM (1) (Hierarchical Storage Management) The automatic movement of files from hard disk to slower, less-expensive storage media. "Centennial Discovery Web Edition provides us with the tools to easily track current information about our IT assets and licensing compliance from a standard Web browser."
