Now, excellent Serdes performance in a reliable process

is available for 40 Gb/s

Centellax, a company that designs and develops high speed components for the optical communications Optical communications

The transmission of speech, data, video, and other information by means of the visible and the infrared portion of the electromagnetic spectrum.
industry, today announced a pair of new Serdes components for applications in 40 Gb/s OC-768 and STM-256 applications. The M4CR1 4:1 MUX (MUltipleXor) See multiplexor.

is a completely integrated SiGe IC which takes four 10 Gb/s parallel inputs and converts them to a single 40 Gb/s data stream including a built-in clock multiplication function (CMU CMU - Carnegie Mellon University ). The D4CR1 1:4 DEMUX DEMUX Demultiplexer
DEMUX Demultiplexing
performs the complementary function by taking a 40 Gb/s serial input and converting it to four 10 Gb/s data streams including a built-in clock and data recovery (CDR (1) See CD-R and extension.

) function. Both ICs are well suited for application in 40 Gb/s transponders or test equipment and accessories.

"These fully integrated solution ICs are an important step in the maturation of the 40 Gb/s component market. Now, our customers can get an excellent EYE, combined with full functionality integrated on a single, manufacturable and reliable integrated circuit integrated circuit (IC), electronic circuit built on a semiconductor substrate, usually one of single-crystal silicon. The circuit, often called a chip, is packaged in a hermetically sealed case or a nonhermetic plastic capsule, with leads extending from it for ," said Julio Perdomo, co-founder and president of Centellax, Inc. "This performance comes from combining the best of high speed digital and millimeter-wave engineering and a great technology process."

These new Serdes components have excellent performance including handling data rates from 39 to 44 Gb/s, low rms jitter A flicker or fluctuation in a transmission signal or display image. The term is used in several ways, but it always refers to some offset of time and space from the norm. For example, in a network transmission, jitter would be a bit arriving either ahead or behind a standard clock cycle  (less than 1 ps on the MUX output), fast rise and fall times, a 400 mV output swing and very low power dissipation (less than 1W each).

These components are available in either bare die or packaged components. Pricing for the bare die is $2500 for each device in low quantities and will be available for sample in early May.

The Centellax design philosophy continues to couple high performance and ease of integration for the application with a technology that offers proven reliability at an attractive price. More information is available from Centellax on the Web at www.centellax.com, or at 707/568-5900, ext. 25.
