Ana Culpeper said that Responder(TM) will provide Celulares with a powerful product offering for people interested in paging. "We have a very large base of alphanumeric customers here, so people understand the value of messaging," Culpeper said. "Our research shows they perceive additional value in a product that offers both voice messaging and the ability to reply to messages.

"An additional benefit is that Responder(TM) messages can be sent directly to the user, instead of being taken and sent by a dispatch operator," she said. "Focus group respondents said they liked the convenience and privacy that Responder offers." Culpeper said that Responder would be offered through CTI's direct sales group, in CTI company stores, and throughout its island-wide dealer network.

ReadyCom is currently showcasing its Responder(TM) product at booth No. 5637 at CTIA's Wireless 99 show.

Responder(TM) is a pager-sized device that receives and stores voice messages sent over the cellular network. Responder(TM) users can play the messages at their convenience and reply to the message by pressing a button and speaking a reply into the handset. A Responder(TM) can be called from any phone and is capable of sending a reply to any phone. In addition, Responder(TM) users are always guaranteed to get every message.

The Responder(TM) also allows users to create and send voice messages to other Responder users or groups of users, directly from the handset. The lightweight, portable handset stores up to as many as 25 voice messages and/or voice memos. Responder(TM) is also capable of placing a live telephone call to an emergency service number. Culpeper said focus group respondents enthusiastically embraced this feature.
