Celtrix Appoints Malcolm J. McKay as vice president, regulatory affairs and quality assurance.

McKay was formerly director of quality assurance and quality control at COR Therapeutics. He also previously served for four years at Celtrix as director of quality assurance.

At Celtrix, McKay will be responsible for regulatory strategies and procedures supporting human clinical studies of SomatoKine. Phase I human studies are in progress, and feasibility studies in target patient populations are expected to begin later this year, in preparation for Phase II studies. SomatoKine is initially targeted for the treatment of critically ill patients who require major surgery and are suffering from destructive metabolic processes.

McKay, age 40, had been director of quality assurance and quality control at COR Therapeutics since 1995. He served as director of quality assurance at Celtrix from 1991 to 1995 and, before that, oversaw this function at Berlex Biosciences.

He was a senior quality assurance engineer and senior process development scientist at Triton Biosciences. In addition, McKay served as group leader of technical support at Abbott Laboratories. He earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry at the University of London For most practical purposes, ranging from admission of students to negotiating funding from the government, the 19 constituent colleges are treated as individual universities. Within the university federation they are known as Recognised Bodies  and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Medical College of Virginia History
The school was founded in 1838 as the Medical Department of Hampden-Sydney College. It received an independent charter from the General Assembly in 1854 and became the Medical College of Virginia, and shortly thereafter transferred all its property to the Commonwealth
