Celtic boss to nick Gabby's pounds 1.5m home.

IRISH tycoon Dermot Desmond is poised to pip TV star Gabby Logan by snapping up her pounds 1.5million dream home in Scotland.

Desmond, Celtic's major shareholder, was spotted visiting the property in Glasgow's West End.

Gabby and her Scotland rugby international husband Kenny Logan have also seen the house, one half of a refurbished Victorian double villa in Turnberry Road.

Irishman Desmond, who also has a stake in Manchester United and was recently named as the fourth most powerful figure in British football, is looking for a base to stay when he visits Parkhead.

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill lives a few minutes walk away while star player Neil Lennon is just around the corner.

Developed by Acorn Property Group, the sprawling three-storey Luchairt, meaning palace in Gaelic, has been restored to its former glory but also boasts the latest in home technology, including its own cinema.

An insider said: 'This property would be perfect for Desmond as it requires absolutely no work.

'It really is a house befitting a man of his status. The home cinema means he could watch replays of all the football matches he wants!

'Desmond is a tax exile based in Gibraltar but the house is ideal when he comes to Glasgow on Celtic business.

'He comes in to town regularly for board meetings, as well as all the big European and Old Firm games.

'On top of that, Martin O'Neill and his family have a townhouse just a few streets away, so he would feel right at home.'

The pounds 1.5million price tag would pose no problem for Desmond. His wealth was estimated at around pounds 660million last year.

As well as being Celtic's major shareholder, he owns London City airport, which rose in value by pounds 87m to pounds 332m last year.

He also part-owns the exclusive Sandy Lane hotel and resort in Barbados.

Dermot has an extensive property portfolio which spans the globe. He boasts two luxury homes and an office block in Dublin, the exclusive Sandy Lane Hotel, above, and an apartment in Barbados and a home in Gibraltar. He also owns London City Airport as well as shares in other businesses including Celtic and Manchester United. He even has a 22 per cent stake in Canadian mining firm Mountain Province Diamond.
