BARDON THE summer baby boom at Dublin Zoo Dublin Zoo (Irish: Zú Átha Cliath), in Phoenix Park, Dublin, Ireland is the largest zoo in Ireland and one of Dublin's most popular attractions. Founded in 1830 it is the fourth oldest scientific zoo in the world, after Tiergarten Schönbrunn in Vienna, London Zoo, continues - with the birth of two tiger cubs. The Sumatran cats were born on May 29 to mother Sigra and officially unveiled by the zoo yesterday. The nine-week-old male cub weighed 1kg at birth and the female at 0.85 kg. The species is classed as critically endangered with as few as 400 in the wild. Zoo director Leo Leo, in astronomy Leo [Lat.,=the lion], northern constellation lying S of Ursa Major and on the ecliptic (apparent path of the sun through the heavens) between Cancer and Virgo; it is one of the constellations of the zodiac. Oosterweghel said: "You never know what will happen when you introduce two big cats, so we are delighted with this spectacular result." Now the zoo is looking for help from visitors in naming the new pair and a public competition is planned for the coming month. Earlier arrivals included a sea lion pup and five birds.
