Celtic Thunder can be the big noise.

Byline: By Doug Moscrop

Malton trainer Tim Etherington had a welcome winner at Carlisle last week and another could be on the way at Redcar today with Celtic Thunder in the Constant Security Sprint Hnadicap.

As a juvenile, he won his maiden at Beverley and ran well in nurseries after that despite not getting home Getting Home (Simplified Chinese: 落叶归根; Traditional Chinese: 落葉歸根; Pinyin:  in some of his races.

Reappearing after a six-month break, he ran a blinder at the weights when chasing home Sevillano at Hamilton after snapping at the favourite's heels until the last 100 yards.

It was a performance that suggested he has improved from two to three years, only for him to disappoint next time in the Thirsk sprint won by Benbaun.

Johnny Parkes, who was ahead of Celtic Thunder in third, meets him on the same terms and, arguably ar·gu·a·ble

, should come out on top again as he too likes fast ground and is likely to add to his earlier win when things go his way.

However, I take the view that Celtic Thunder turned in a below-par effort for whatever reason and is worth persevering with.

Divine Spirit hasn't set the world alight in three attempts so far this term, but I would tend to ignore them and he will be seen in a better light as the season progresses.

He was behind Johnny Parkes and Celtic Thunder on his second start but, if you go back to when he won at Musselburgh last year, he had my selection back in fourth. Celtic Thunder is a pound better off for a beating of little more than a length and there shouldn't be a great deal between them.

Divine Spirit is back on a winning mark and, whatever fate awaits him here, he must be kept on the right side from now on.

Taras Treasure, who cost e48,000 and is a half-sister to a triple-winning juvenile, ran a blinder on her debut over the course last month.

She wasn't given a hard time in the last furlong once it was obvious the winner had her measure, but she pulled clear of the others.

When I visited Kevin Ryan's stable last season he was upbeat about a horse called Bells Boy's. He thought he had secured a bargain at the Ascot Sales after the way he had subsequently been working on the Hambleton gallops.

He wasn't a world-beater by any stretch of the imagination but the way he worked suggested he would be a snip off Verb 1. snip off - sever or remove by pinching or snipping; "nip off the flowers"

Time has moved on and Bells Boy's has failed to reproduce his homework where it matters and is still a maiden.

However, he did little wrong in a banded stakes at Nottingham last week when leading until the last few strides and is given one last chance in the Redcar Amateur Riders' Maiden Handicap.

At Hexham tonight, Polished looks set for a repeat performance in the Transcend Hair & Beauty Novices' Handicap Hurdle after scoring narrowly over course on Saturday. The extra half-mile here shouldn't be a problem and, despite a 7lb penalty, this looks an easier assignment.
