Celsion Corporation (AMEX AMEX

n. Abbr. BPH

(BPH) at the American Urological Association (AUA) annual meeting in San Francisco on Tuesday, May 11, 2004. The two papers are titled, "Prolieve Transurethral Microwave Thermodilatation Versus Finasteride Finasteride Definition

Finasteride is a drug that belongs to the class of androgen inhibitors, which means that it blocks the production of male sex hormones. It is sold in the United States and Canada under the brand names Proscar and Propecia.

Celsion's Prolieve Thermodilatation system treats the symptoms of BPH, a condition affecting older men, more commonly referred to as an enlarged prostate. The Prolieve Thermodilatation system is a dual action technology employing heat and urethral dilatation (hence, "Thermodilatation") to provide significant symptomatic improvement in two weeks. The device is used in an office procedure that minimizes patient discomfort and the need for post-treatment catheterization catheterization

Threading of a flexible tube (catheter) through a channel in the body to inject drugs or a contrast medium, measure and record flow and pressures, inspect structures, take samples, diagnose disorders, or clear blockages.
. In a randomized one-year clinical trial, conducted at 14 centers across the United States, patients undergoing treatment with the Prolieve system achieved measurably greater improvement in symptoms after three months compared to a drug, Proscar(R) (distributed by Merck (NYSE NYSE

See: New York Stock Exchange
:MRK)) (Finasteride), which is commonly prescribed to treat this condition.

The Prolieve system, which was approved by the FDA on February 19, 2004, is being distributed for Celsion Corporation by Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE:BSX).

Tony Deasey, Celsion's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president.
