Celsian Technologies Introduces a Family of VDSL Products for the Campus Market.

Celsian Technologies Inc. (Celsian) today announced its entry into the VDSL campus market with a family of products, the Velocity V8012 Multiport VDSL Switch, the V255 VDSL Remote Bridge and the V250 VDSL Local Bridge. VDSL offers businesses cost-effective campus connectivity for voice and data applications.

For more than five years, Celsian has designed and manufactured various xDSL products. Before the VDSL product family, Celsian introduced a wide variety of ADSL and G.SHDSL modems for the access market and the campus enterprise market, incorporating bridging, routing and VoATM.

Celsian was the first company to market a 4-wire G.SHDSL modem product. The diversity and standards compliance of their products has allowed them to establish a strong position as an OEM supplier.

The Celsian Velocity V8012 Multiport VDSL Switch is a VDSL-based IEEE 802.1 MAC-layer switch that is designed to facilitate LAN integration in a private network environment. By supporting Ethernet data transmission over ordinary unshielded twisted pair (UTP) copper wire, the V8012 enables a fast and cost-effective upgrade of corporate transmission facilities.

The V8012 is an ideal network integration solution for any campus environment, including government campuses, military bases, school grounds, hospital buildings, industrial complexes, and businesses with multiple suites in a high-rise building. The V8012 switch implements the latest configurable DSL transmission technology to emerge (VDSL), thus achieving significantly greater throughput than traditional 2B1Q-based SDSL and HDSL technologies.

Symmetric data rates up to 12.5Mbps can be supported at distances up to 4,000 feet -- well beyond the limited reach of Category 5 cabling. Furthermore, with an integrated POTS splitter, the V8012 allows for extension of analog telephone services over the same copper pair utilized by the VDSL signal. The V8012 switch is packaged in a standard 19-inch rack-mount form factor with a height of 1 rack unit (1U).

The V8012 is augmented with the V255 Remote VDSL Bridge. The V255 is packaged in a desktop form factor and comes with a standard 10/100BaseT interface for connection to the remote LAN equipment and an RJ-11 connector for POTS. Up to 12 of the V255 devices can be connected to each V8012 switch.

While the V8012 in combination with V255s allows star configurations to be implemented, the V250 Kit, consisting of one V255 Remote VDSL Bridge and one V250 Local VDSL Bridge, is an economical solution for simple point-to-point applications.

The three components of the VDSL product family combined with Celsian's 2-wire and 4-wire G.SHDSL products give IT managers a complete toolkit for implementing networks over the widest possible range of building and office locations within a campus.
