Cellular enhanced 911 service trials set for West Virginia.

Lockheed Sanders' new cellular phone location products, Smart Look and Micro Look, will be used to provide an emergency location service for cellular telephone users throughout a rural 3,000-square mile, six-county area. ), Atlanta, will install the equipment and provide marketing and distribution services for Smart Look and Micro Look.

Under the agreement, a Sanders Smart Look unit will be installed in five of Clear Communications' base stations near Logan, W.Va. The system is designed to identify and locate unmodified cellular phones in the covered area. The companion Micro Look hand-held units will be provided to designated ambulance, police, fire and other public safety organizations for their use in quickly pinpointing the location of cellular phone users who call the 911 emergency number.

Smart Look and Micro Look can also be used to enhance roadside assistance and rescue services and to support other location-based services See mobile positioning.  such as stolen vehicle recovery.

In addition to providing the trial Smart Look installation, ACCI plans to offer distribution and installation services to service providers.
