The contract calls for deployment of the CTS system in GTE's Greater Bay Area market and includes participation in CTS's No Clone Zone(SM) RF fingerprinting roaming fraud prevention service. Under terms of a letter of intent signed in June of this year, CTS has already begun deployment in GTE's San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden  market and expects to deploy in other GTE Greater Bay Area markets during the fourth quarter.

Bob Dahut, CTS President, said, "With the deployment of the Blackbird Platform in the Greater Bay Area market, as well as other fraud protection solutions, GTE can now offer its customers comprehensive protection against cloning fraud in their home market and when they roam in key markets including Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  and New York New York, state, United States

Russ Patridge, President of GTE Mobilnet California, said, "As a result of this agreement with CTS, we've now added `RF fingerprinting,' a powerful pre-call validation system, to our arsenal in the battle against wireless fraud. As a major cellular provider, GTE employes an array of fraud protection systems to protect its customers. The CTS system, combined with the GTE FraudForcesm and Clone Dectector(TM) systems, now provides GTE California customers with maximum fraud protection."

The CTS PreTect application uses patented signal processing See DSP. , or radio frequency, "fingerprinting" technology to accurately distinguish between legitimate customers and counterfeit users on a pre-call basis. This system captures information from the cellular phone call at the cell site, before it enters the service provider's system, and compares it to validation data. PreTect can then automatically intercept and shut down a call if a proper match is not made. CTS's No Clone Zone service provides seamless real-time roaming fraud prevention between markets using the Blackbird Platform and PreTect application.

GTE Mobilnet is one of the world's largest cellular service providers. The company currently has more than 3 million customers out of an industry-wide total of approximately 34 million. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of GTE Corp. (NYSE NYSE
