"For the sixth year in a row, we are primed and excited to help people stay in touch at the AT&T Pro-Am," said Steve Chandless, Cellular One general manager for the Monterey Peninsula. "Our enhanced network will easily handle the increased number of calls during the tournament, especially during the heaviest calling periods."

The tremendous growth in wireless communications is definitely apparent at the AT&T Pro-Am. Spectators, as well as players, use their cellular phones to stay in touch with their offices and families, make dinner reservations, secure hotel accommodations and even check on flight times.

The tents, which will be set up throughout the tournament golf courses, will not be equipped with traditional phone lines.
