Cellphones, PCs push IC sales.


FRAMINGHAM Framingham (frā`mĭnghăm'), town (1990 pop. 64,994), Middlesex co., E Mass., on the Sudbury River between Worcester and Boston; settled 1650, inc. 1700. , MA -- Semiconductor revenue will grow 18% in 2004, driven by stronger-than-expected mobile phone and PC shipments and increased capacity-utilization rates among suppliers, says IDC (idc.com).

Unit shipments will grow in double digits Double Digits was a pricing game on the American television game show, The Price Is Right. Played from April 20, 1973 through May 18, 1973's show, it was played for a car and used small prizes.  this year and next for mobile phones and PCs, IDC forecasts. From 2003 to 2008, semiconductor sales will grow 12% compounded annually, from $160 billion this year to $282 billion in 2008.

Mobile phone shipments will surpass 530 million units this year, while PC shipments will grow 11%, to 152 million units. IDC expects double-digit dou·ble-dig·it
