CellPoint's Unwire Announces New Telematics Agreement: PM-LUFT AB of Europe to Install Wireless Remote Management System.Business/Technology Editors STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 2000 PM-LUFT AB (www.pm-luft.se) is one Europe's largest companies in the production of ventilation systems ventilation system Public health An air system designed to maintain negative pressure and exhaust air properly, to minimize the spread of TB and other respiratory pathogens in a health care facility for industrial complexes, shopping centers shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into and office buildings. In a new agreement with CellPoint (NASD NASD See: National Association of Securities Dealers NASD See National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). :CLPT; www.celpt.com) subsidiary Unwire, PM-LUFT AB will use the Unwire UP100 GSM Server telematics Originally coined to mean the convergence of telecommunications and information processing, the term later evolved to refer to automation in automobiles. GPS navigation, integrated hands-free cellphones, wireless communications and automatic driving assistance systems all come under the terminals for maintenance, upgrades and communication with the service dispatch central. PM-LUFT AB will connect the GSM terminals to their ventilation systems, so when a failure occurs, the Unwire terminal unit will send an alarm to the service central. The telematics terminals are also programmed to send certain information at certain times, allowing remote wireless management and control of the ventilation systems. Instructions are programmed in the telematics terminals in advance, allowing for performance of a multitude of tasks from a remote location. By using the GSM telematics terminals from Unwire, PM-LUFT AB will know in seconds when a failure occurs, often well in advance of when end customers can realize there is any problem. For PM-LUFT AB, it also means that they can schedule maintenance when needed, which is more cost-effective, responsive and proactive. It also means that PM-LUFT AB can guarantee the customers' equipment functionality and quality because of the telematics terminals. PM-LUFT AB has ordered an initial 500 units for Europe and volume is expected to double this year. They produce approximately 3,000 ventilation systems per year and have approximately 30,000 systems installed in Europe today Europe Today is a daily radio news show on the BBC World Service about public affairs throughout Europe.
