CellNet Data Systems and Schlumberger RMS Finalize Contract to Provide Two Million PECO Energy Customers With Wireless Network Automated Meter Reading Services.

CellNet Data Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CNDS), a market-leading provider of telemetry services, and Schlumberger Resource Management Services, Inc. (NYSE:SLB) have finalized the 15-year contract under which Schlumberger will use CellNet fixed wireless technology to provide Philadelphia-based PECO Energy Company with network automated meter reading services for its approximately two million electric and natural gas customers. The Letter of Intent that outlined and preceded this contract was announced April 29, 1999.

Schlumberger, as the project manager, is responsible for managing, integrating, deploying and providing automated meter reading services to PECO Energy. Schlumberger will use CellNet to supply fixed data network services. The new Schlumberger CENTRON(R) modular solid-state meter will be used incorporating radio technology licensed by CellNet.

With the addition of the network for PECO Energy, CellNet now has approximately 7 million meters under long-term contracts with utilities in the Midwest, Pacific Northwest and Northeast, as well as a Letter of Intent to expand an existing network contract by 800,000 meters.
