Singleton's guest column, "The Uncommon Sense of Cell Phones" (January January: see month. 2007). I found his commentary about cell phone use during meetings to be funny and to the point. Last year I attended a junior high basketball game in which my son was playing. I was sitting behind the bench late in the game when I heard a cell phone start ringing. It wasn't mine--I had left it in the car. It turned out to belong to the coach of the opposing team. He proceeded to take a call from someone and talk for about three minutes--during the final quarter of the game. That was classic! PAUL E. I thought my neighbor was going crazy recently, talking to Noun 1. talking to - a lengthy rebuke; "a good lecture was my father's idea of discipline"; "the teacher gave him a talking to" lecture, speech rebuke, reprehension, reprimand, reproof, reproval - an act or expression of criticism and censure; "he had to himself out in the yard.
