), Bozeman, MT, today announced the formation of a strategic alliance to jointly develop, manufacture, and market laser medical devices.

Cell Robotics develops, manufactures, and sells laser based medical and research equipment. Big Sky Laser, is a major OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  manufacturer and developer of medical laser products. BSLT develops and manufactures compact, rugged, solid-state lasers for the scientific, industrial, and military markets.

In the strategic alliance, which covers some of its patented technology, Cell Robotics will determine market applications, feasibility, develop "breadboard A thin plastic board used to hold electronic components (transistors, resistors, chips, etc.) that are wired together.  submittals. Big Sky Laser Technologies will complete the development of commercial products and provide the manufacturing capability. Both companies will maintain the ability to independently develop and manufacture certain product lines.

"I particularly like this approach because it allows CRII to get its products into the market quickly and without the time and money required to build all of the production capability internally. Additionally, I am excited about the future joint technology development potential," said Ronald Lohrding, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "The ability to increase our core OEM base, manufacture in higher volume, and have access to CRII/NTEC crystals will strengthen our business and improve our strong bottom line," stated Greg Smolka, Director of Sales and Marketing at BSLT.

Initially, this strategic alliance will enable CRII to rapidly introduce to the international market the Lasette laser finger perforator per·fo·rate

CRII acquired the Lasette technology from Tecnal, Inc., in January 1996, and has invested the capital to develop several Lasette prototypes through their Russian partner, the New Technology Engineering Center (NTEC NTEC National Tribal Environmental Council
NTEC National Transportation Enhancements Clearinghouse
NTEC Naval Training Equipment Center
NTEC Network Terminal Equipment Center (AT&T)
NTEC National Telecommunication Education Committee
), and to complete an in-house redesign of the product. BSLT will invest the capital to enhance the current design and complete pre-production prototypes. CRII will develop the international marketing plan and initiate the sales launch for the first production units, planned for release in 1997.

The Er:YAG laser crystals for the Lasette MCR laser will be produced at NTEC and imported by CRII. CRII will also make laser crystals produced by NTEC available to BSLT for use in other products. A similar joint development approach to that taken on the Lasette is being initiated by CRII/BSLT for other medical laser products.
