Celerity won the business through its national education distributor, Kidston Communications, and their partner SoundCom. The three companies have teamed to ensure that all the educational requirements of the school are met through this comprehensive system. In addition to providing video on demand content, the DigiKnow system provided for real time Web access without the need for an additional computer in the classroom. The Adena School is an impressive, new facility serving grades K through 12, with over 1400 students. Prior to the opening of this new school, the students were in four buildings built nearly a century ago and still heated by coal. The contrast has been startling star·tle

, and enjoyable. On Sunday the community, including Superintendent Jake Grooms and the members of the School Board, held a dedication ceremony and celebrated together the great advance in educational opportunity for their children. Two weeks ago, the Ohio School Facilities Commission, who funded much of the school, visited and were highly impressed by all they saw, including the DigiKnow system.

"This new system is a great example of what we are trying to achieve here at Adena," Superintendent Grooms said. "Our children are living in an age where advanced systems, far beyond just a few PCs in the classroom, will be commonplace, and this Celerity system gives them the full range of live, interactive and Web-based media to learn from. Our young people are much more familiar with video and Web-centric information today, and to compete for that attention we must offer our messages and information in ways that are at least as interesting and compelling. Making learning fun, exciting and truly interactive allows students at all levels of achievement to go at their pace and learn in the ways most familiar to and effective for them."

"We still feel that these systems will be included in most modern schools," said Edward Kidston, President of Kidston Communications. "With Superintendent Grooms' support, we hope to show this system to most of the schools in Ohio, and throughout the region. Nothing works as well as seeing the systems actually working and teachers and students actually using them effectively, and we are eager to show the educational community what a great tool is now available to them."

"We have found the staff and students to be highly interested in these new technologies, more for what they offer than how technologically elegant they are," added Alice Gilliam, Manager of Customer Service for Celerity. "As a community of users, we find them, especially the kids, not only willing but eager to experiment, and to enjoy the content on the system. We will continue to add content throughout the year, some produced by the school itself, and we will, of course, learn how to continue to tailor our navigation methodologies and content to be the very best for each school, grade level, and type of school. We want to thank our content partners, including AIT, GPN GPN Great Plains Network
GPN Great Plains National (Instructional Video)
GPN Grosse Pointe North (high school)

, and TV Ontario, for supporting us in this first school deployment."
