Celebrity Money: Robin Gibb - Bee Gees coined it at car races.

Worst: His first solo album when he left the Bee Gees The Bee Gees were a singing trio of brothers — Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb — that became one of the most successful musical acts of all time. They were born on the Isle of Man to English parents, lived in Manchester, England and moved to Brisbane, Australia during  in 1970.

Money attitude: Very cautious, hates debt.

Income: A third of the Bee Gees' estimated pounds 140million fortune.

ROBIN Gibb is resident in Florida for tax purposes and can spend only three months a year in Britain.

But the former Bee Gee loves to winter at The Prebendal, the pounds 8million converted monastery in Thame, Oxon, he bought 18 years ago.

 had been looking at it five years earlier and also Prince Charles, but I got it for about pounds 800,000 because it was a bit dilapidated."

The Prebendal dates back to the 12th century, when it was used as a training centre for monks.

Early life for Robin was not always so grand.

 without anywhere to live and we were flat broke," he says. "My father took what seemed like a better idea at the time - emigration emigration: see immigration; migration.  to Australia."

Robin's mother fell ill and his father struggled as a bush photographer. "I can still remember my dad counting out coins to try and get us through the week," he says. "Sometimes chips and buttered bread was our meal for the day."

Everything was mortgaged or on hire purchase. Each weekend, the three older brothers went to Brisbane races and dashed out between the cars to pick up coins thrown on the track by the crowd.

The trio began to be noticed for their music and gradually became child stars in Australia.

When they returned to England they were signed to a record label.

The Bee Gees became one of the five most successful recording acts recording acts n. the statutes of each state which established the keeping of official records by County Recorders or Recorder of Deeds. (See: record)  of all time, along with the Beatles, Paul McCartney, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson. They have sold nearly 110million albums.

"They say money doesn't bring happiness, but it is only a broke guy who says that," says Robin.
