Celebrity Fashion Designer Tadashi Shoji Unveils Latest Collection for Ivy Hotel, A Kelly Capital Property.

From the Bartenders and Cocktail Servers to the Private Butlers and Concierge, Ivy Hotel Staff Will Wear Fashion-Forward Styles That Are Hip Yet Classic

SAN DIEGO -- Ivy Hotel, San Diego's newest luxury urban resort, turned to celebrity fashion designer Tadashi Shoji to collaborate in designing one-of-a-kind garments reflecting the chic design and urban landscape of the hotel. With fashionable pieces inspired by the space, Shoji has created a wardrobe program that could just as easily be seen on the runway as in the hotel's lobby or nightclub, Envy.

With close to 30 looks in the line, Tadashi incorporated his signature style and his use of luxurious fabrics to create a modern collection for Ivy Hotel. From an elegant black pantsuit with a deep v-neck for the female bartenders, to a sleek and contemporary mini-dress with lace detail for the cocktail servers, he used rich fabrications in jerseys, laces and wools to create a balance between fashion and function. The front desk staff and the concierge will wear a sexy fitted sleeveless dress layered with a contemporary suit jacket. In addition to outfitting the female staff, Tadashi expanded into menswear with elegantly appointed suiting for the male front desk, concierge, and butler staff as well as casual cargo pants and vest for the valet and bellman.

"We sought out a top designer to carry out our design aesthetic through every aspect of the hotel and Tadashi's vision met our desire to blend a sexy style with comfort and function," said Michael Kelly, CEO of Kelly Capital, the owner and developer of Ivy Hotel. "We love what Tadashi has done. He took classic design elements and adapted them to create hip, trend-setting styles that revolve around the notions of seductive elegance and casual chic."

Tadashi has taken his flawless skill for creating smart separates, dresses and timeless evening gowns, and adapted it for the wardrobe program at Ivy Hotel. The idea was to expand upon the rich hues and textures presented throughout the hotel within the suites and rooms, the rooftop pool and cabanas, the restaurant, nightclub and lobby. The wardrobe program was designed as a punctuation mark to the opulent details throughout every space in the hotel. With fashion-forward staffers at every post, the Ivy Hotel team both blends into the framework of the hotel, as well as becomes part of the luxury landscape.

"As is often the case with my approach to a project such as this, I wanted this program to be a collaborative effort between my design aesthetic and that of Ivy Hotel," said Shoji.

"I designed the pieces much like I design everything else in my collection, with an eye toward fit, fabric, detail, and style. I felt it was not only important that the staff look good, but also experience the comfort and luxury that my designs and fabrications have to offer."

As a veteran designer, Tadashi is highly-regarded in the fashion industry and in Hollywood. His designs have won a loyal following with celebrities such as Shakira, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Tyra Banks, Minnie Driver, and Queen Latifah.
