RON and Anne Walton have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

The couple, of Babbacombe Road, Styvechale, Coventry, married on November 6, 1948, at St. James's Church, Leamington Road Leamington Road was an English football stadium. It was situated in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. Blackburn Rovers played there from 1881 until 1890, when they relocated to Ewood Park - and have remained there ever since. , Styvechale.

They were engaged and married in a month which raised a few eyebrows at the time. However, the reason for this was that Ron's father had already emigrated to Rhodesia and his wife was due to follow and she wanted to be at the wedding.

Ron was in the Navy and then worked at Henley College. He also worked at Coventry City FC from the 60s until the late 80s and still supports them.

Anne worked in the Council House until she left to have a family, and then returned to work in the early 70s in Priory Hall at the Lanchester Polytechnic (now Coventry University The expanding main campus is situated on the east side of Coventry city centre, which boasts one of the most innovative (and unusual-looking) university libraries in the UK. The university is particularly noted for its world-renowned automotive design and engineering degree courses as ). Anne enjoys reading and seeing the family.

They have three children - Stephen, Christine and Andrea and three grandchildren - Rory, Jacob and Emma.

The family celebrated with an evening meal at Henley College and a family lunch at Simpsons in Birmingham.

RONALD RONALD Rocketborne Optical Neutral gas Analyzer with Laser Diodes  and Veronica Phillips have celebrated their golden wedding.

The couple, of Norton Hill Drive, Wyken, Coventry, married on November 8, 1958, at St Osburg's Church in Coventry.

They had met at Gladdings Cake Shop, opposite the Swanswell.

Ronald was an apprentice at Suttons Decorating and did two years National Service, including spells in Ireland and Germany.

Veronica worked at the Co-op in Coundon and then Gladdings.

Ron enjoys golf and T'ai Chi and Veronica enjoys making cakes and singing. They have three children - Lesley, Stephen and Stuart - five grandchildren and one great grandchild Noun 1. great grandchild - a child of your grandson or granddaughter

. They celebrated with a party for family and friends.

ANNIE ANNIE Application of Neural Networks for Industry in Europe  and Charley Browne, originally from Belfast, Ireland, celebrated their golden wedding on Saturday, November 8.

The childhood sweethearts' love story began in the Pound Loney The Pound Loney was the name for an area in the Lower Falls district of Belfast. The area evolved in the nineteenth century as a place for keeping animals on their way from the countryside to be sold at market in Belfast.  district of Belfast in about 1952.

Their romance continued over the Irish Sea in Coventry where Charley joined his older brothers Michael and Jimmy, who had found work in the city.

Annie soon joined Charley, exchanging vows at Sacred Heart RC Church, Coventry, on November 8, 1958. They started married life with just pounds 5 between them.

Their first home was in Starley Road, but later moved to Cheylesmore.

Charley and Annie have four daughters and a son, and seven grandchildren.

The couple say the secret to their successful marriage is laughter, loyalty and compromise!

Charley started out as a pipe fitter and welder for Daly Heating and later worked in the maintenance department at Jaguar Cars. Annie was an auxiliary nurse at Whitley Hospital.
