And, in this issue we celebrate our first annual Executive Member Guide--Detroit Regional Chamber members who have joined or upgraded to a Gold, Silver or Bronze membership to take full advantage of the Chamber's numerous products and services. It is through their support and that of all our nearly 15,000 members that I can take this space to celebrate a few more end-of-year successes for the Chamber. * We have further expanded our Diversity Partnership Program with the addition of the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce and the Michigan Michigan (mĭsh`ĭgən), upper midwestern state of the United States. It consists of two peninsulas thrusting into the Great Lakes and has borders with Ohio and Indiana (S), Wisconsin (W), and the Canadian province of Ontario (N,E). Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Together we increase our advocacy voice and expand opportunities for all involved members. * We had our most successful Women's Business Conference to date with more than 450 attendees. * Our Membership Sales Team broke their all-time record in October. Add to that 247 new members through the Insurance Team and another 250 during the Operation Touchdown membership campaign and we are well on our way to becoming the nation's largest chamber. * The Detroit Regional Economic Partnership's first-quarter results were outstanding. More than 10 deals were made with a value of $94 million in new business for the region. This team is covering the globe in search of new business. (Visit the Detroiter online at www.detroitchamber.com for a summary of results.) * Work on keeping our borders functioning, our candidates winning and our goals for transit on track have kept the Issues Management Team jumping. And they won't stop until funding for the borders is secure and the RTA is in motion. (Detroit Mayor-Elect Kwame Kilpatrick's win was a great success. More on that next month.)
