Celebrations are a chocolate collection made by Mars, Incorporated comprising miniature versions of favorite Mars-produced bars.
 were held in Oakes to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

Members of Oakes Baptist Church Over-60s Group organised the event at the church.

, who is chairman of the group, said the event included a picnic lunch with a wartime street party theme.

The event also included a two minutes' silence and remembering people who had fallen during the First and Second World Wars.

Entertainment during the afternoon included wartime songs with pianist Irene Morris and releasing 100 balloons.

The release was done by group member George Sutcliffe, who has recently led a successful campaign to get recognition for the efforts of Polish Servicemen during the Second World War.
