Celebrating the champion spirit within us all: Muhammad Ali Center and the Kentucky Center for African-American Heritage.


Kentucky's rich African-American history will have two new show-case venues in 2005: the Kentucky Center Coordinates:  The Kentucky Center (formerly known as the Kentucky Center for the Arts or KCA), located in Louisville, is the largest performing arts center in the U.  for African-American Heritage and the Muhammad Ali Center Coordinates:  .

The $23 million Kentucky Center for African-American Heritage will be in Louisville's historic Trolley Barn Complex. Its programs, activities and exhibits are meant to celebrate the cultural, political, historic and artistic contributions that African Americans African American Multiculture A person having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa. See Race.  have made to the region. Muhammad Ali, 1769?–1849, pasha of Egypt after 1805. He was a common soldier who rose to leadership by his military skill and political acumen.
, one of the many reasons he chose to locate the $40 million Center honoring his life here. The 24,000 square-foot Muhammad Ali Center, opening in 2005, will house exhibit space, classrooms, theatres, a library, and function space. Visitors can explore theme-based pavilions incorporating a mix of exhibits, media, theater, interactivity and individual storytellers. The experience will largely incorporate the six prevailing themes of Ali's life: conviction, confidence, dedication, respect, giving and spirituality.

Boxing fans can visit a special area showcasing Ali's career. It uses multimedia productions and a video-on-demand venue to let users view highlights of some of Ali's most famous fights, hear the story of his professional life and gain insight into the qualities that made him the world's most famous athlete.
