Celebrating the Carpenters (ITV1, 7.30pm) Amanda Holden and Ronan Keating introduces tribute performances of this seventies sibling pop duo's popular songs. It's 40 years since Richard and Karen Carpenter released their debut album, starting a 14 year career packed with magical songs that are as popular now as they were then. Among those paying tribute are Dionne Warwick with her rendition of Close to You, while The Saturdays perform their own, modern version of Please Mr Postman.

Waterloo Road (BBC1, 8pm) With power having gone completely to his head, Max flexes his authority by ordering the teachers to do away with mixed ability classes and instead segregating pupils into sets. The result is uproar in the staffroom and Grantly organises a petition. With even his biggest fans turning against him will Max back down? Meanwhile Rachel tries to encourage Lindsey to apologise for bullying Karla and Rose puts a good word in for Tom with Josh.

The Family (C4, 9pm) Five years after their register office wedding, Sunny and Shay are now planning a traditional Indian ceremony. But Shay hasn't spoken to her mother for over five years, and all her efforts to get any of her family involved are leaving her heartbroken. Thank goodness she has a husband like Sunny, who has sweet words to tell us how he feels about his wife: "Shay's out of this world man-she's like the Knight Rider car". Bless!
