In honor of its 25th year, Vernier vernier (vûr`nēr), auxiliary scale, either straight or an arc of a circle, designed to slide along a fixed scale. Its unit divisions, usually smaller than those on the fixed scale, permit a far more precise reading.  Software & Technology recently recognized outstanding science teachers for their creativity. Here are two of the winners:

Chemistry teacher Stacey Howell of Layton, Utah Layton is a city in Davis County, Utah, United States. It is named after Christopher Layton, a Mormon colonizer and leader. The substance is ground between the pestle and the mortar.  and track the enzymatic changes that eventually convert the corn into alcohol.
