MICHAEL JACKSON Noun 1. Michael Jackson - United States singer who began singing with his four brothers and later became a highly successful star during the 1980s (born in 1958)
Michael Joe Jackson, Jackson
 King Of Pop

VERDICT: *****

SO how do you mark Wacko's 50th birthday without releasing yet another 'Best Of'? By releasing a Best Of full of tracks chosen by fans. There's a different version of this album in each of 30 territories and this UK edition holds few surprises after British fans voted for their favourite songs. Billie Jean, BAD, Smooth Criminal and Thriller kick off the record which also includes Beat It, Rock With You and Wanna Be Startin' Something.

But who voted for Scream?

EVA CASSIDY Somewhere

VERDICT: *****

A DECADE after the posthumous Songbird comes an album of unreleased Eva Cassidy gems. Eva died of melanoma in 1996 when she was just 33. Her music was little known while she was alive, but by 2005 she was ranking alongside The Beatles as one of Amazon's best-selling artists. Eva topped the Christmas chart last year in a duet of What A Wonderful World with one of her greatest fans, Katie Melua “Melua” redirects here. For the Super Robot Wars character, see Melua Melna Meia.

Ketevan "Katie" Melua (Georgian: ქეთევან "ქეთი"
. Somewhere is a fitting showcase of her musical dexterity, as she flits seamlessly between blues and country and from the Robert Burns' folk ballad My Love Is Like A Red Red Rose, to the self-penned Somewhere and an achingly soulful acoustic version of George Gershwin's Summertime.

BRIAN WILSON That Lucky Old Sun

VERDICT: *****

AFTER the phenomenal success of his Pet Sounds and Smile shows, the Royal Festival Hall The Royal Festival Hall is a concert, dance and talks venue within Southbank Centre in London, England. It is situated on the South Bank of the River Thames, not far from Hungerford Bridge.  asked Brian Wilson to create a new piece for its re-opening last year. The result is That Lucky Old Sun.

Co-written with friend Van Dyke Parks Van Dyke Parks (born January 3, 1943) is an American composer, arranger, producer, musician, singer, and actor. His work spans six decades, and he has worked with luminaries from Grace Kelley to the Beach Boys and the Byrds.  and bandmate Scott Bennett, it's a tribute to his home, California. A nostalgic look back to the '60s, when surfer dudes went to Drive-ins, met pretty girls and he sang "with my brothers". Beautiful trade mark Wilson harmonies and lyrics that are so achingly personal it's just breathtaking.

Outstanding tracks are Going Home, Southern California and Good Kind Of Love. With a fantastic, supportive backing band, this is absolute joy.

The Beach Boy genius has done it again.

CHILDREN OF BODOM Hate Crew Deathroll

VERDICT: *****

CHILDREN of Bodom are finally taking their rightful place among metal's elite.

For those not already familiar with these fret-melting Finnish firebrands, there's no better time to embrace 'shred-meister' extraordinaire ex·tra·or·di·naire

Alexi Laiho on this expanded re-release of what is regarded by many as COB's most accomplished work to date. Laiho's finger-mangling duels with keyboardist Janne Wirman are worth the money alone, particularly on Sixpounder, Triple Corpse Hammerblow, You're Better Off Dead and the juggernaut- sized title track. If further proof is needed, they'll be opening for Slipknot at the NIA in Birmingham on December 7.
