In 1969, Southgate Methodist, High Street Methodist and Moor Bottom Congregational merged at the Moor Bottom site. Bob Armitage has worshipped at Trinity for the last 40 years. He said: "We were three churches fighting for the same congregation so we thought the best thing to do would be to form one church. "Forty years ago there was an enthusiasm for bringing Christian churches together Christian Churches Together in the USA (CCT) is a Christian ecumenical group formed in 2006 to "broaden and expand fellowship, unity and witness among the diverse expressions of Christian faith today". and similar mergers took place in Paddock, Kirkheaton and Marsden." Mr Armitage believes Trinity has a bright future. He said: "Reverend Charlotte Lorimer is a superb minister and we're very much at the heart of the community."
