Celcore expands GlobalSwitch product line with MSC-8.

MEMPHIS Memphis, city, ancient Egypt
Memphis (mĕm`fĭs), ancient city of Egypt, capital of the Old Kingdom (c.3100–c.2258 B.C.), at the apex of the Nile delta and 12 mi (18 km) from Cairo.
, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 21, 1996--Celcore officials announced the availability of MSC-8, the latest addition to the innovative GlobalSwitch(TM) product line, a family of compact, low-cost mobile switching centers (MSC (1) (MSC.Software Corporation, Santa Ana, CA, www.mscsoftware.com) Founded in 1963 by Richard H. MacNeal and Robert G. Schwendler, MSC is the world's largest provider of mechanical computer aided engineering (MCAE) strategies, simulation software and services. ).

The GlobalSwitch MSC-8 is a full-featured, networkable cellular mobile switching center with the most compact footprint on the market today. It can be mounted in a standard 19-inch rack and is only 14 inches high. As part of Celcore's GlobalSwitch product family, the MSC-8 connects to GlobalCell(TM) radio base stations for both cellular and microcellular applications. Through the GlobalHub(TM) networking platform, multiple GlobalSwitches can be networked together for seamless operation and higher capacity as well as full IS-41 capability including call delivery and inter-system hand-off with other cellular networks. In addition, Celcore's Network Management System with easy-to-use graphical user interfaces provides a single point of control for operations, administration, and maintenance functions for all network components, including the MSC-8.

The GlobalSwitch MSC-8 can be used in a variety of low-traffic density cellular or fixed wireless applications, such as rural, suburban, small cities, coverage fill-ins, and remote regions around the world -- without backhauling to other networks. It can also be used for micro-cellular applications such as an underlay hybrid microsystem or wireless PBX (Private Branch eXchange) An inhouse telephone switching system that interconnects telephone extensions to each other as well as to the outside telephone network (PSTN).  for in-building, campus, or industrial facilities. The MSC-8 can support up to eight configurable T1 or E1 ports for flexible call routing to interconnect with radio base stations and public or private telephone networks. Hardware modules in the MSC-8 are common to the entire GlobalSwitch product line. This provides operators with modular and cost-effective expansion as the number of base stations and subscribers grow.

"The availability of MSC-8 further demonstrates Celcore's technology leadership in applying network-centric, distributed client-server technology to wireless networks. The GlobalSwitch product line offers operators the flexibility and cost-effectiveness required in today's competitive environment," stated Thomas Berger There are several people called Thomas Berger:
