Cedar Systems Adopts Cyrix MediaGX Platform for "The Nutshell" Windows-Based Terminal; Thin-Client Solution Provides Expandability, Upgradability to Corporate Customers.

RICHARDSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 1998--Cyrix Corporation, a subsidiary of National Semiconductor Corporation(R) (NYSE:NSM), today announced that Cedar Systems, Inc., has chosen the MMX(tm)-enhanced MediaGX(tm) processor for its Windows(R)-based terminal, soon to be introduced under the name "The Nutshell."

Incorporating the MediaGX(tm) platform's integrated architecture into The Nutshell terminal will enable Cedar Systems to deliver an inexpensive, high-performance thin client offering substantial cost-savings for the end-customer while maintaining high-performance and reliability.

Cedar Systems' thin-client terminal features 10/100BT Ethernet connectivity, audio support, USB, TV-out connection and PCI expansion. It can be upgraded and expanded to satisfy customers' requirements, including support for smartcards, bar-code readers or even wireless modey UNIX systems.
