Cayuse Software Submits over Half of All System-to-System Grant Applications to NIH for Major February 5th Electronic Deadline.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Cayuse Cayuse (kīys`), Native North Americans who formerly occupied parts of NE Oregon and SE Washington., Inc. today announced a major milestone in the company's history: over 50% of all grant applications submitted to NIH through the Grants.gov system-to-system interface(1) were developed, approved and submitted using the company's flagship product, Cayuse424. Along with the success of this submission deadline, the company's customers reported significant efficiencies including faster proposal development and higher quality submissions.

The company's products are used by a wide variety of research institutions to apply for grants from federal agencies. The application process for these institutions has changed significantly with the passage of this first major electronic submission deadline for NIH. This transition from paper submissions to electronic submissions culminates a 5-year co-operative development process between the NIH and Cayuse.

"Our customers include some of the most significant research institutions, with large research portfolios ranging from $60 Million to $900 Million per year," said Christian T. Harker, PhD, President of Cayuse. "Research institutions need a centralized system for submitting grants electronically in order to preserve research revenues, reduce costs, and avoid risk."

Cayuse anticipates that sales of the company's grant portfolio management software will more than triple during the next year, in large part due to the ongoing dominance of the volume of successful submissions within its industry. The company recently doubled its staff and office space to accommodate this rapid growth. The company's customers include the University of Wisconsin at Madison, University of California at San Francisco and The Ohio State University.

Cayuse, Inc. will release Version 3.2 of Cayuse424 in late summer, to include a wide variety of Federal Agency support, institutional system integration and other important features.

Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Cayuse, Inc. is a leading provider of integrated Grant Management software for educational and research institutions throughout the nation. The company was founded in 1992 by Christian T. Harker, PhD. The company employs 20 software developers, marketing, sales and administrative personnel in its Portland and Boston offices. (1) The system-to-system interface is the only method that allows applicant organizations to use an integrated institutional system for proposal development and submission. All other submissions use a free government provided desktop application.
