With High-Speed Ethernet-to-Internet Access At Affordable Price

Cayman Systems today announced that Argotech Business Systems will make high-speed Ethernet-to-Internet access more accessible to small businesses throughout Southern California with the Cayman ADSL 3220H modem/router. By including an ADSL modem with a multi-user Ethernet router, Cayman and Argotech will enable LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  users to access the Internet or a remote LAN via shared ADSL services over Pacific Bell telephone lines.

The ADSL 3220H integrates Cayman's award-winning SOHO Soho (sōhō`, sə–), district of Westminster, London, England, known for its continental restaurants. Once a fashionable quarter, it became popular among writers and artists in the 19th cent.  router with an ADSL modem for a one-box solution, which allows LAN-wide Internet access over a single ADSL line at rates of up to 8 Mbits/sec. Small business owners find ADSL connections to be faster and more affordable than other alternatives, such as fractional T1. By eliminating the need for multiple boxes, and including a license for an unlimited number of users, the ADSL 3220H means that the customer premise equipment is now as affordable as the ADSL service. The router part of the ADSL 3220H is based upon the Cayman Swift IP software. Swift IP is the basis of all Cayman broadband routers, which have been named the SOHO routers of the year by CTI magazine for 1997 and 1998. In addition, the ADSL 3220H includes a list of features that combine to make installation and maintenance a matter of "zero configuration." According to James Blake, Argotech Internetworking Manager, "Affordability and zero configuration are necessities for small businesses, and the Cayman ADSL 3220H fits the bill in all respects."

"We created the Cayman ADSL 3220H to be easy to buy and easy to configure," said Heidi Clark, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. This announcement comes on the heels of an agreement between Pacific Bell and Cayman to offer special pricing on Ethernet/Internet access routers to Internet Service Providers who participate in Pacific Bell's ADSL ISP Partner Program. The agreement was designed to help ISPs, such as Argotech, to provide their customers with affordable ADSL services as quickly as the service is available in their local area.

The ADSL 3220H features a 10BaseT Ethernet connection to a LAN, a RJ-45 ADSL connection, and includes special security features to allow hosting of web services without risking the integrity of information on the LAN. Argotech also plans on making the ADSL 3220H and other Cayman products available to companies and resellers wishing to purchase in small quantities. This aspect of the business will be handled through Argotech's networking division. To obtain pricing information, interested parties may contact sales@argotech.net.
