Cayman Systems today announced that it will offer its 2E 500 and 2E 500H dual-Ethernet Internet Access Routers at reduced prices to Internet service providers who participate in Pacific Bell's ADSL ISP (1) See in-system programmable.

(2) (Internet Service Provider) An organization that provides access to the Internet. Connection to the user is provided via dial-up, ISDN, cable, DSL and T1/T3 lines.
 Partner Program.

The 2E 500 and 2E 500H are customer premise routers currently used by Pacific Bell with its ADSL service, allowing business and residential customers to use a single ADSL connection to connect multiple users across a Local Area Network.

"This special pricing will help ISPs in Pacific Bell's ISP Partner Program to provide their customers with ADSL networking solutions that are easy to install, use and maintain," said Heidi Clark, president and chief executive officer of Cayman Systems.

Through Pacific Bell's ADSL ISP Partner Program, ISPs act as authorized ADSL sales representatives for Pacific Bell's ADSL services, and are able to offer their business and residential customers lightning-fast access to the World Wide Web. The program is part of Pacific Bell's strategy to meet demand for bandwidth in California and accelerate the availability of high-speed Internet and data access to its customers.

The Cayman 2E 500 and 2E 500H use version 4.4 of Cayman Systems' network operating software with Swift-IP. Swift-IP now brings plug-and-play setup and configuration to businesses using Cayman Systems' HDSL See DSL.

HDSL - High bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line
1000, HDSL1001, SDSL See DSL.

SDSL - Single-line Digital Subscriber Line
1400, ADSL2000, LR700-H and 2E series of routers. Swift-IP integrates Network Address Translation (NAT (Network Address Translation) An IETF standard that allows an organization to present itself to the Internet with far fewer IP addresses than there are nodes on its internal network. ) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (protocol) Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol - (DHCP) A protocol that provides a means to dynamically allocate IP addresses to computers on a local area network. The system administrator assigns a range of IP addresses to DHCP and each client computer on the LAN has its TCP/IP  (DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) Software that automatically assigns temporary IP addresses to client stations logging into an IP network. It eliminates having to manually assign permanent "static" IP addresses. DHCP software runs in servers and routers. ) to allow all users in an office to connect to the Internet using a single IP address. This reduces costs for the business and makes maintenance easier for the service provider.

The integration of plug and play, Cayman Systems' Swift-IP capabilities and two Ethernet ports in one package create a unique and powerful tool for service providers that cater to businesses and homes. One Ethernet port supports PCs on the LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used. , the other Ethernet port plugs directly into a single Pacific Bell ADSL connection.
