With the integration of HPNA we continue to provide more choices for the end-user."

HPNA, uses the phone line network of the home or small business to offer a simple, cost effective and proven technology that allows computers and other information appliances to connect with each other and/or the Internet without interrupting standard telephone service. This allows consumers to develop a home LAN utilizing existing telephone wiring and requires no costly or disruptive rewiring of the home. With an HPNA home LAN, multi-player gaming, downloading of large graphic images from the Internet and sharing of information between PC's in the home contention for a broadband connection is eliminated.

Cayman is integrating HPNA to its intelligent broadband gateways thereby allowing ILEC (Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier) A traditional local telephone company such as one of the Regional Bell companies (RBOCs). Contrast with CLEC. See ELEC and TELRIC. , ISP (1) See in-system programmable.

Given the variability of homes, and in particular home wiring environments, Cayman service provider customers can be sure to meet the specific needs of their end users resulting in the continuation of Cayman's highest end-user satisfaction record and the highest percentage of successful first time installations!

"The combination of explosive broadband deployment and the rapid increase in multi-PC households is creating a significant growth market for home networking. Broadcom's home networking chipsets provide market-leading performance, reliability and integration to vendors like Cayman," said Jeff Thermond, vice president and general manager of Broadcom's Home Networking Business Unit.

"By working within the HPNA standard, Cayman's products allow residential users to utilize existing home phone wires to create a home LAN to easily distribute broadband throughout the home without interrupting standard telephone service or laying additional wires," said Steve Craddock senior vice president -- New Media Development for Comcast, Inc.

Cayman was the first gateway provider to incorporate wireless LAN technologies allowing the end-user to completely network their home. The addition of HPNA complements Cayman's existing, and robustly deployed, home networking portfolio that includes Ethernet and the two dominant wireless LAN technologies -- Home RF and 802.11b.
